Robert Pearlman | SpaceX has added an ISS Docking Simulator to its website: This simulator will familiarize you with the controls of actual interface used by NASA Astronauts to manually pilot the SpaceX Dragon 2 vehicle to the International Space Station. |
Robert Pearlman | I docked on my second try (hint: read the instructions before attempting a docking). There's an easter egg if you stray far enough away from the space station (with credit to Doug Ellison who spotted it first): |
oly | I also docked second try, you can also do a fly around the ISS as long as you maintain proximity to the station. |
OLDIE | What a fascinating experience. All went well until the last few minutes, then things got very hairy! FAILED at first attempt. Still it passes the time in lockdown. |
Headshot | Very nice sim and great marketing ploy by SpaceX. They just made lockdown more tolerable. Kudos to SpaceX for a fun/educational experience. Maybe they should add a propellant gauge to show us how efficient we are or aren't. I would definitely fall into the latter category. |
328KF | This app was so cool. I've some success, and some failures. But once you figure it out it's great. I still can't seem to get close in without having to constantly thrust in pitch up and down to keep it centered. It doesn't seem to just get settled. It will be fun on docking day to watch the approach and say, "Oh yeah... I've done this. Doug needs to watch his inputs and take it slow." |
Larry McGlynn | Did anyone else find the red Tesla coupe yet? I found while working myself into an unrecoverable multi-axis spin flying away from the ISS. |
